Getting Your Audience to Choose You - Cowlick Studios Branding

Getting your audience to choose you over your competition can be difficult. Whether it’s direct mail or digital marketing, consumers have an increasing amount of control over the marketing messages they see. You want your messages to be among the ones they do. How do you get your audience to say yes to your messaging when they could so easily say no?

Getting Your Audience to Choose You Be authentic.

Consumers hate in-authenticity. They want brands that speak their language and know their needs. In fact, 80% of consumers say “authenticity of content” is the most influential factor in their decision to follow a brand on social media. Be honest and transparent about your products. Use natural language.

Make it easy.

Consumers’ lives are busy. They will respond to brands that know who they are and what they are most likely to buy, and that make the process as seamless as possible.

Don’t get in their face.

Your audience is bombarded with marketing messages 24 hours a day, so don’t be a pest. People love digital marketing, but it can be invasive and annoying, too. This is one of the reasons people still love direct mail. Gallup found that 41% of Americans still look forward to receiving their mail every day.2 Make sure your marketing mix includes both digital and traditional mail.

Get it right the first time.

Research from The Advertising Research Foundation shows that after receiving a few dozen messages from the same company shoppers start to tune out.3 So don’t just bombard people with direct mail. Be selective about what you send and when.

Know what makes them tick.

Getting your audience to choose you means your brand message needs to reach your demographic where they are at. Focusing on their pain points. Look more deeply at what motivates, interests, and is of the most value to your audience. There are multiple ways to get at this information, so create a plan for getting what you need.

Consumers are more savvy than ever, so you have to be more savvy, too. Let us help you create a plan for getting your consumers to choose you!
